How to Apply for the Bonnie Atkins Memorial Scholarship
Wing Chun Magazine, Issue 7
Cost should never be the wall that keeps someone out of Wing Chun. That belief sits behind the Bonnie Atkins Memorial Scholarship, awarded four times a year through the Global Kung Fu Alliance.
Who Was Bonnie Atkins?
The scholarship is named for Sifu Kendra Mahon’s mother. Bonnie Atkins was a nurse for 30 years and raised three daughters on her own. In her last days, she spent her energy raising money for people in need. The scholarship is awarded in her memory, in the spirit of the way she lived.
What the Scholarship Gives You
The scholarship gives free access to Level 1 of Kung Fu Kendra’s Wing Chun Online Certification Course. Level 1 is your entry into the course and the first step on the path through all 10 levels, taught in the Traditional Wing Chun line of Grandmaster William Cheung.
Who It Is For
The scholarship is awarded to members who have demonstrated selfless acts in the world of kung fu and beyond. That can look like many things: helping a training partner, volunteering in your community, supporting someone through a hard time. What matters is the spirit of giving that Bonnie Atkins lived by.
